Bhukh Maya Ke

Devki, a devoted young woman, builds a happy married life with her husband Anand until his sudden death leaves her widowed and vulnerable. Instead of supporting her, Anand's family, led by his greedy brother Vikram, expels Devki and her young daughter Shraddha from the house while denying them their rightful share of the family property. A compassionate temple priest shelters the mother and daughter, helping them survive as Devki struggles against poverty, humiliation, and the harsh social treatment faced by widows. Vikram continues to persecute her by spreading false accusations about her character, turning society against her and making it increasingly difficult for her to earn a dignified living. Despite repeated attempts to protect her daughter and rebuild her life, Devki finds every path blocked by prejudice, betrayal, and exploitation. Overwhelmed by despair and believing there is no future for either of them, she decides to end both her own life and Shraddha's. The priest, however, recounts the tragic chain of events as a cautionary tale, highlighting how greed, social injustice, and the denial of compassion can destroy innocent lives. The story concludes on a tragic note, presenting Devki's suffering as an example of the relentless hardships endured by a woman who spends her life searching for love, dignity, and acceptance but is repeatedly denied all three.
